Think Polyvlies — For a Sustainable Future

Today’s Initiatives for Tomorrow’s Impact

Sustainability is a hot topic today, and it plays a prominent role at Polyvlies—not just recently, but for many years.

As a family-owned business in its fifth generation, we have always demanded and promoted structures, standards, and perspectives that focus on the future. We are constantly aware of our responsibility to future generations. This is not a matter of current trends but is clearly outlined in our code of conduct. We align our actions with this code every day. Successfully managing our business while simultaneously taking responsibility is not a contradiction! We question, reassess, and implement... we work in the present and develop sustainable and innovative products for tomorrow. What we have already implemented:

Compliance Evidence / Certifications

Our long-standing and continuously expanded environmental management system has been certified according to the international standards ISO 14001 and 50001, just like our energy management system.

Sustainable Raw Materials

Currently, nearly 60 percent of the raw materials used in our nonwovens are sustainable (recycled / torn and reused / natural fibers)—and this percentage is increasing.

Our Commitment to Progress

Our Vision:
Achieving Climate-Neutral Production

We are dedicated to continuously enhancing our facilities to realize climate-neutral production in the future. This is a profound challenge that we wholeheartedly embrace.

New construction projects are, of course, built to the highest energy standards. Additionally, we install solar and photovoltaic systems. Existing buildings are also retrofitted accordingly.

60 percent of our energy needs are already met with green electricity. We will continue to increase this share and supplement it with an ever-growing amount of self-generated power.

Modern lighting concepts and heat recovery measures also contribute to bringing us step by step closer to our goal of climate-neutral production.

Our Raw Material Cycle

Recycling Nonwoven Waste: Closing the Loop on Raw Materials

Traditionally, we have always prioritized the processing of production waste and residual materials for internal reuse.

We are proud to have successfully expanded this principle to our users and end customers. In our product development, we emphasize material purity and component separability to facilitate recycling at the end of the lifecycle (Design for Recycling).

Ideally, we reclaim the waste generated by our customers, transforming it into high-quality raw materials through meticulous processing. These recycled materials are then reintegrated into our products.

While this process isn’t flawless yet.. we are making significant strides toward a more sustainable future!

Catalyzing Global Change Locally

Zugegeben: Admittedly, our company doesn’t have direct access to the world’s oceans from a geographical standpoint. However, the escalating global crisis of plastic pollution has compelled us to seek collaborative solutions to combat this pressing issue... and we’ve found them!

SEAQUAL INITIATIVE is a unique collaborative community working with marine cleanup programs worldwide to convert recovered ocean waste into SEAQUAL® MARINE PLASTIC; a new, fully traceable raw material that raises awareness of marine pollution and highlights those combating the issue. By choosing products containing SEAQUAL® MARINE PLASTIC, you help in cleaning our oceans.

In terms of properties, SEAQUAL® FIBER behaves like conventional polyester fibers and can be processed into nonwovens—a technique we practice daily. Thanks to the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, we have found a way to contribute to cleaner seas.
