Polyvlies’ innovative nonwoven fabrics are utilized across various industries globally.

When company founder Swibertus Beyer began yarn production in 1850, nobody could have predicted that it would eventually evolve into a globally successful company. However, with the introduction of needle punched technology in 1969, the road was paved for the group as it stands today.


Here are the most important milestones of our company history so far:

1969Introduction of needle-punched nonwoven technology (Polyvlies.)
1971Extension to fully-integrated surface generation, finishing and processing of technical textiles and home textiles
1995Process development and implementation of thermally bonded nonwovens (Polytherm.)
1996Specialization in the production of natural fiber nonwovens (Naropur, Narodur, Naroplast)
2004Acquisition of a glass-fiber processing specialist in Saxony and initiation of the production of own glass fiber nonwovens (Vitratex)
2008 Establishment of a plant in Slovakia for the production and finishing of thermally bonded nonwovens (Polytherm®)
2010Expansion of production capacity for the production of fine fiber nonwovens (Polyvlies®)
2012 Establishment of a site in France through the acquisition of a facility for the production and finishing of lightweight nonwovens and their specialties (z.B. SkillCoat™)
2013 Expansion of the machinery for finishing and processing
2015 Launch of the new production site in the USA
